Just finished this Margot Tenenbaum piece for Spoke Art’s Wes Anderson tribute show, “Bad Dads”. I've been a fan of all Anderson’s films and bad dads, especially Royal and his Tenenbaum clan. Additionally, the Royal Tenenbaums film has often provided some good audio-visual background stimuli in the studio. The character of Margot is a lone “free bird” shrouded in secrecy and mystery and I wanted to connect her to the Baumer's falcon, Malachai. I'm not sure if Anderson’s intent was for Malachai to represent Margot, Baumer, Royal, or all the children as they returned to their nest, but this was the connection that I enjoyed and indulged.
